HAVILAH PROVIDES SPECIALISED CARE ALL YEAR ROUND

2/12/2016

Havilah is a great asset to our local community, offering modern and stylish retirement living, aged care and respite services. But it is not just great care and state-of-the art facilities on offer. At Heath House specialist dementia care is offered with dedication to the best possible quality of life. A monthly dance is held to entertain and enliven Heath House residents whilst all residents of Havilah and community are invited to attend. Volunteers, family members and retirees pitch in to entertain residents in the comforts of a chair, or join in twirling on the dance floor and help serve delicious meals. Team leader Patricia Boyd says the dancing improves overall mobility for those who are able and the whole event stimulates warmth and laughter.

According to health experts music awakens the part of the brain not impacted by dementia and evokes responses, such as singing and movement and and memory improvement that can last for several hours after the experience. In international studies staff have reported improved mood, emotion, communication, memory and reduction of anxiety and agitation in dementia patients. Great attention is given to the needs of Havilah’s dementia residents at all times with a variety of activities and the dance is a big part of the monthly calendar.

Residents at all of Havilah’s aged-care facilities rarely stop socialising and exploring their new lives. Havilah resides in a growing tourist region of Central Victoria. Travelling to towns, attractions and events in the region provides continuing entertainment and much inspiration for those who like to get out and about.

And when residents are not traveling all over the country side there are plenty of activities enjoyed within their comfortable home from bowling to cross-words, craft, art, cooking, dancing, musical entertainment and significant events such as Melbourne Cup day and spring racing events, Easter, Mother’s Day, ANZAC day, Halloween and more. Our annual Christmas BBQs are enjoyed by residents and families past and present from far and wide.

Modern kitchen facilities and great staff are a source of pride at Havilah. Meals are prepared with only the best quality fresh, seasonal ingredients to suit all dietary requirements. Havilah kitchens can cater to resident’s daily desires regardless of any fixed menu. Large dining and communal spaces are offered in all wings of the facility. Private dining rooms and kitchens are available for family gatherings, activities, entertainment and events such as afternoon teas and games.

Residential Care and respite services are available at the Harkness and Palmerston sites. Contact Havilah for procedure for entry and information regarding fees and charges or arrange an in-home presentation.
